About the Firm

During a legal career spanning twenty-five years, Mr. Rostan has argued successfully in the appellate courts of New Jersey and New York as well as in federal court. Mr. Rostan is an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association and sits on its executive board. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York, and in several federal district courts, including the federal district courts in New Jersey and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Mr. Rostan is also a Mediator trained by the Alliance for Education in Dispute Resolution at Cornell University and with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Mr. Rostan’s firm joins with other respected firms in handling complex litigation calling for multiple attorney involvement.

Mr. Rostan is also experienced in handling civil rights and special education cases. He has represented parents and students in administrative proceedings involving their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities and Education Act and has litigated on behalf of persons with physical and mental disabilities. Mr. Rostan has a special interest in helping children with learning disabilities and is a trustee of the Calais School in Whippany, New Jersey, a school dedicated to serving the needs of learning disabled children from kindergarten through high school. He has also been appointed as a settlement monitor in a civil rights class action lawsuit and as a legal guardian and trustee by courts in various matters.

Prior to establishing his law firm in 1995, Mr. Rostan worked on appeals and special litigation for New York State’s Mental Hygiene Legal Service and represented persons with developmental disabilities for the Community Health Law Project in East Orange, New Jersey. Mr. Rostan has also worked as a community organizer in Brooklyn, New York.
